The APC chairman slammed Justice Okoroafor for allegedly showing bias and partisanship in ongoing legal tussle over the soul of APC in Abia state.
It will be recalled that Justice Okoroafor-led high court, had on March 8, 2018, issued an order restraining Nwankpa from parading himself as the chairman of Abia APC, pending the determination of the case brought against him by aggrieved party members.
Nwankpa, while reacting in a chat with newsmen in Umuahia on Thursday, frowned at the conduct of the judge, which he said, posed a big danger to the nation’s democracy.
The former Abia lawmaker questioned the interest of the judge in the case, despite a letter written by the state Chief Judge directing him (Okoroafor) to hands off the matter.
He vowed that no amount of conspiracy and sabotage from opposition elements will deter the APC leadership in the state from enthroning desired change in Abia State come 2019.
According to Nwankpa, “We frown at the conduct of Justice Okoroafor, who has constituted himself to party congress committee, constituted himself into the National working committee of the party, constituted himself into a court and constituted himself even into an executive”.
“And our question is, What is his interest? And we want to tell him that whatever be the consequences, he will be held responsible. We will not be intimidated by the use of the judiciary. The judiciary is there to make peace and bring justice”.
“The judiciary is not used to intimidate, frustrate and undermine people’s efforts. And Abia APC will not be intimidated by anyone, be you a judge or governor. Because we believe in rule of law. We believe in democracy”.
“I stand to say that today, Justice Okoroafor has displayed total bias. The leadership of Abia APC will take every measure to bring justice, peace and stability in the party”.
He added that, “Justice Okoroafor is being manipulated. He is being used as a mercenary towards undermining the prospect of the party come 2019. And APC Abia will say no to it,because we have come to make a change in Abia.
“No amount of conspiracy, sabotage will discourage us from achieving that purpose.”
Meanwhile, Justice Okoroafor, on Friday, lamented that the Acting Chief Judge of the State and the Chief Registrar of the State Court want to undo him in the matter.
The matter is between the Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe-led faction of the APC that is currently backed by a court order and the Hon. Donatus Nwankpa faction.
They are contesting which faction is the authentic APC leadership in Abia State.
Justice Okoroafor spoke while addressing lawyers in his courtroom on Thursday, said, “The Acting CJ wants to undo me in this case. It is a case of mischief. Nobody can intimidate me; you can do that only with facts.
“If I do any wrong, go the Appeal Court, it is only Court of Appeal that will correct a lower court.”
