It’s an insult for US to tell Nigeria what to do with Abacha loot – Femi Falana

Human rights Lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana
has said it is an insult for the US government to tell Nigerian government what to do with repatriated Abacha loot.

The FG had disclosed that the Abacha loot will be deployed into infrastructure development in line with the agreement reached with the US government. The FG said it will be channeled into completion of the second Niger Bridge, the Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressways.

Commenting on the agreement reached by both governments, Femi Falana insisted that is insulting for the US government to tell the Nigerian government what to do with the reptriated funds. He stated that it is embarassing for the Buhari-led administration to also agree to such.
According to the human rights activist, the money was stolen from the federation account and ought to be returned to the same account because it belongs to the three tiers of government. He averred that the money cannot be used to fund the budget of the federal government alone.
