The Kwara Youth Stakeholders Forum (KYSF) has threatened to recall Senate President Bukola Saraki over the continuous face-off between the National Assembly and the Executive arm of Government.
In a statement by its president, Charles Olufemi Folayan, the group stated that the rancour between two arm of government is hindering the operations of the government and affecting the delivery of dividend of democracy to the masses.
“We are cognisant of the separation of powers in a democratic setting, but it is shocking to see the legislative and executive arms of government formed by the same political party playing opposition between themselves in the name of separation of power.” KYSF stated
“We are disappointed that despite the economic recession, which demands urgent attention, the Senate leadership has been paying more attention to swarming court rooms for Code of Conduct Tribunal trial, Customs boss’ uniform and debates on the recalling of an individual senator,” stated KYSF.
The group blamed the situation on the senate president by labelling him as unimpressive stewardship, for not paying adequate attention to some bills that promote the national interest such as bills of public interest such as Local Government Autonomy Bill, Bill for Special Anti corruption Court, Audit Bill including first-line charge for Auditor General for the Federation, among others.
The group stated that rather than antagonizing, the Senate should support Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, who is standing in for President Muhammadu Buhari, to lead the country out of its current economic hardship and keep the it united.
