Nigeria super eagle moved a step down the ladder in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.
The Super Eagles, who occupied the 38th in last month’s rankings, are now 39th after scoring 715 points. They scored 730 in the June rankings.
Following the development, the Eagles moved from fourth to sixth in Africa behind Egypt, Senegal, DR Congo, Tunisia and Cameroon respectively.
Russia 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup champions Germany leapt to the top of the world rankings for the first time in two years after overtaking South America powerhouse Brazil.
Germany clinched the Confed Cup title with a 1-0 victory over Chile in the tournament’s final in St Petersburg on Sunday.
Brazil are second followed by Argentina in the third place. Poland have recorded their highest-ever ranking with a host of strong results in their World Cup qualifying campaign. They jumped four places to sixth.
