Nigerians want PDP back – Diri speaks as consensus Adamawa Exco emerges

Senator Duoye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State and Chairman of the state Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said Nigerians want the party back because they miss the sense of unity it typifies.

He said this at the state Congress of the party in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, on Saturday.

Diri said, after announcing the result of the state congress in Adamawa, that the PDP in the state had conducted a most peaceful and stress-free election worthy of emulation.

“This has been a friendly and carnival-like process, a practical projection of unity in the PDP,” he said while giving his post-congress speech to the delegates and other members of the PDP who trooped into the expansive Ribadu Square in Jimeta for the state congress.

He said Nigeria needs such spirit of unity in government at the highest level, asserting, “Nigerians are tired. They are waiting for the PDP.”

The PDP in Adamawa State had adopted a consensus option by which nearly all members of the immediate past state exco were returned unopposed, paving the path to a tension-free election of the party executives.

The new executives of the PDP in Adamawa State as declared Saturday afternoon included Barr Ahmed Shehu (Chairman), Mr Stephen Donald (Deputy Chairman), Malam Idris Yahaya (Secretary), and Alhaji Hamza Bello (Organising Secretary).

The others included Barr Isyaku Daniel (Legal Adviser), Ahmad Bazube (Treasurer), Dickson Elisha (Financial Secretary), Suzan Gilbade (Women Leader), Modibbo Umar (Auditor), Mohammed Bello (Publicity Secretary), and Abdullahi Alkali (Youth Leader).
