Five delegates lost there lives in an auto ghastly while heading to the second national council meeting of the Niger Delta holding in Igbokoda in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The delegates whose identities are yet to be ascertained during the time of this report, were travelling from Akure to Igbokoda for the summit which Vice President Yemi Osibajo is to chair.
Four people were also reportedly injured in the accident which occurred at Ode-Aye, a sleepy town along Okitipupa-Igbokoda.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who confirmed the accident, said the accident was caused by excessive speeding.
He said three vehicles were involved in the accident and added that the vehicles were damaged beyond recognition.
The PPRO said the bodies have been deposited at the mogue of the state specialist hospital in Okitipupa, where the injured victims are also receiving treatment.
