The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) on Friday announced the appointment of Olusegun Adekunle as its alternate Chairman of the OPEC Economic Commission Board.
The announcement was made in a statement released by Idang Alibi the Director Press, Ministry of Petroleum Resources in Abuja on Friday.
Adekunle was Nigeria’s representative to the organisation before the current appointment.
The Commission is responsible for writing reports and making recommendations to the Conference of OPEC Oil Ministers on oil prices and other economic issues.
In reaction to the appointment, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and the immediate past Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Dr Ibe Kachikwu, was delight at the development while congratulating him for the new responsibility and he was also charged to continue to work hard to justify the appointment and make the Country proud.
