Abdulsalami Abubakar, a onetime Military Head of State, on Friday evening told Nigerians that instead of coplaining bitterly all they need to do is vote out the bad leaders.
Abubakar said Nigerians should stop criticising bad government, misrule of bad leaders but do the needful by voting out incompetent government.
He made the call while speaking at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, in Kuru, Plateau State, Thisday reports.
According to Abubakar, “Let me try to conclude by saying that every citizen must do their duty.
“You must not sell your vote, you must register to vote, and stop criticising the failures of government if you will not go and vote them out if they are not doing their job.
“You should not allow your children to be used for violence.”
The former leader also stated the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to be credible.
He insisted that credibility of the electoral body was very critical in building the confidence of the electorate.
“They must not be seen to be taking side as observed in Ekiti State with the result now being contested in court,” he added.
